Cinnamon Steamed Apples Recipe: Easy and Delicious Side Dish

Are you looking for a simple but delicious side dish to complement any meal?
Look no further!

I really enjoy this simple dish.

Ingredients:
Apples (I prefer them a little tart, like Granny Smiths or Jonagold, but you can really use any kind)
Raisins
Cinnamon
Brown Sugar
Water

Begin by washing and coring your apples.

Slice them, about 1/2 inch slices.

Put them in a frying pan with 1/2 cup of water.

Add raisins, cinnamon and brown sugar to taste.
I don't give exact amounts, since it depends how sweet you like your apples to be.

Put a lid on the man, and steam your apples till they are tender. It shouldn't take long, maybe about 5 minutes.

And that's all! Easy enough to eat with an every day meal, but also kind of festive, so it could also be a side dish for your Thanksgiving dinner!

Simple, right?!
Enjoy!

Orange and teal fall decor - quick decorating

I thought it was time to do some fall decorating.

I didn't feel like removing everything else, so I decided just to use the bird decor that was already out, and combine it with some fall stuff. Lazy decorating, but I was surprised how much I liked the color combination teal and orange!

Another small change I made to our existing decor:
Normally this teal window frame has a red and green wreath attached to it.

To make it a little more 'fall-ish', I wrapped an orange berry garland around it.

An instant fall wreath...

Outside, I kept things simple, too.

This window frame is SO versatile.
Whatever the season, it's so fun to decorate it!
I just put a fall leaf garland in it, added some mini pumpkins, and it was done!

Some more decorations,
and we're ready for fall!

Happy fall!

I am blogging every day this month, since I am taking part in the "31-for-21" challenge:
blogging every day of the month to raise awareness for Down syndrome.
Some days I write about my youngest girl, who has Down syndrome, or about Down syndrome in general, other days I write about other stuff. If you want to read more about my little girl, or Down syndrome, please click the tab "Down syndrome" on the top of this page.
Today is day 20 of the challenge!

Fall leaf mobile - and a blog to check out

Inspired by the mobile in this post of "Enjoying the small things",
I decided to copy her idea.

Super easy, but I really like the results.

I cut out some leaves out of colorful cardstock.
I used my Big Shot, but you could also draw and cut them by hand,
or trace a template or real leaves.

Then I poked some holes in the leaves, and used a needle and some crochet thread to connect the leaves, and tied them to a branch.

And, since this month I am blogging to raise awareness for Down syndrome,
I might as well point out that the blog where I found my inspiration for this mobile,
"Enjoying the small things", is a blog that was very encouraging to me
when we had just found out that the little girl we were expecting had Down syndrome.
Just reading about the life of this family, and how this mom had also feared that things would never be 'normal' again,
and seeing how they simply kept 'enjoying the small things' was just what I needed.

If you're new to her blog, Nella's birth story is probably the first thing I would recommend you to read.
