Happy Halloween from the Cutest Witch in Town!

from the

who turns out to be a real girly girl:

But don't try to put the matching hat on!

She loves to put on a hat fight!

So it was time for some distraction:

in the form of a coupon binder...

So finally, a picture of the witch wearing her hat...
or what is left of her hat.

Happy Halloween!

And this marks the last day of the "31-for-21" challenge!
I did it :) I blogged every day this month to raise awareness for Down syndrome!
A big thank you to my faithful readers!

Happy Halloween

We've been busy with Halloween preparations:
carving our pumpkins,
toasting pumpkin seeds,
making treats for school,
decorating the house with some cute pumpkin and candy corn lights
(that I got for VERY cheap some time in November last year).

I even got the treats ready, since I'm usually surprised how early the first trick-or-treaters are coming,
and then I am running around like crazy to get candy ready, the kids dressed up, etc.

So I guess we're ready for Halloween :)

Ladybug Halloween Costumes

This was my first sewing project ever.
Two years ago, I decided to get brave and finally put the sewing machine, that my hubby gave to me years ago for my birthday, to use.

I bought some fabric and decided I couldn't go to wrong with something that would only be worn one night. I just made up the pattern as I went, and my girls LOVED their costumes. I made them large enough, so even now it's 2 years later, they can still wear them. Unfortunately, they don't want to be cute ladybugs anymore, but witches...

(And no, I'm not making them witch costumes, but last year I bought a few costumes at Target when they were 75% off as dress up clothes, so they will be using these...)

Basically these are just like a skirt with elastic on top AND bottom, and also part of the sides not sewn together, to leave room for armholes. I lined the fabric, because it was pretty thin. Hardest thing for me was to zigzag around the dots, because I wasn't good at sewing curves. (Still not my favorite thing to do!) We paired it with black hooded sweaters and black tights and were good to go!
